The Pivotal Season of Young Adult Life
I recently heard someone say that history is the most important subject a person can study. The speaker even went so far as to say that history was more important than theology, because the study of the Lord is largely done through a historical lens. While provocative, intriguing, and perhaps a bit false, I appreciated his sentiment that the past has a large part to play in how we approach the present.
One of the goals of my coaching practice is to help young men organize their financial habits around sound principles like monthly budgeting, tracking expenses, debt reduction (and elimination!), and an overall commitment to steward the resources they have been entrusted with from the Lord. The decisions that they make in these early years of their adult life will have lasting and pivotal ramifications in the future that they build. I want to help them see that early in their adult life and inspire them to think of the present decisions not as neutral events that live in a vacuum, but rather as a critical piece of the future they are building.
